CTE / Trade Options

Career and Technical Education within WCSD

WCSD Signature Academy and Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs add value to the high school experience and prepare students for success!  These programs provide a rigorous, stimulating curriculum that engages and motivates students; provides opportunities for students to acquire and practice 21st century skills; and prepare students for success in college, high-skill careers, and life.  Signature Academies and CTE are education for the future!

CTE Programs of Study in WCSD

 

CTE College Credit Program for High School Thru TMCC

You can complete your high school courses and pass a skills assessment to earn college credit.  There are over 70 CTE programs within WCSD, enabling you to explore several career pathways while your are workings towards your high school diploma.

 

Applied Technology Division thru TMCC

This division serves students who are interested in hands-on training programs like Architecture and Design, Automotive, Diesel, HVAC/R, just to name a few.

Trade Opportunities within Northern Nevada

The traditional college experience is not for everyone, especially with the ever increasing college tuition.  Many students are beginning to explore other avenues that would allow them to achieve high-wage positions without the student loan debt.

Northern Nevada Apprenticeships

The Northern Nevada Apprenticeship Coordinators Association (NNACA) offers paid apprenticeship programs for in-demand, high-paying fields of advanced construction, engineering, and high-tech trades.  You must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.  Some of their programs do allow for concurrent enrollment in high school.

Apprenticship.gov is run by the Department of Labor, it is a one-stop source to connect career seekers, employers, and education partners with apprenticeship resources.

TMCC Apprenticeship

TMCC offers registered apprenticeships programs that are unique, flexible training programs combining job-related credit courses with structured on-the-job learning experiences.  TMCC is offering Non-Union and Union apprenticeships.
